On July 9, 2005 we toured the Deep Submergence Unit at NAS North Island under the direction of STSC (SS/DV) Jeremy Reed, USN.
Onboard we viewed the mini rescue submarine Mystic as well as toured the areas were the ROVs are operated from and had a quick Q and A. We also toured the Deep Submergence Unit compound which includes DSSD (Diving System and Salvage Detachment), UMV (Unmanned Vehicles Detachment), and the Rescue Submarine Mystic. We explored each of the different detachments and discussed the mission of each and some of the technology that drives them.
